Topic: The Science of Clam Gardens
Goal: Have a basic understanding of Clam gardens, what they do, and how this information relates to science.
Learning Objectives: Understand how a clam garden is created, understand how clam gardens are cared for, understand how they relate to science, and practice using this related science.
Introduction: Introduce what clam gardens are. Who makes them? What do they do?
Content: relate the higher pH of the intertidal zone as a result of the clam garden to chemistry content. Relate the lowered temperature of the glam garden to earth science/sustainability content.
Practice Questions: application of content introduced
Activity: A lab that involves going out onto the land and testing the pH of clam gardens for chemistry. A lab that involves going out onto the land and testing the temperature of clam gardens for earth science/sustainability.
